Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what Game Design Degrees ("we," "us," or "our") collects when you visit the site to research game design degrees, careers and salaries, which outside services handle that information, and how to ask us about it.
- We use analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. The site runs no advertising, affiliate or chat scripts.
- Google Analytics sets cookies. The site itself also stores your light or dark theme choice in your own browser.
- Our host, Cloudflare, processes the technical details of each request so it can deliver the page and protect the site.
- If you email us, we use what you send only to reply.
- We don't sell personal information.
Information Collected Automatically
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. To deliver each page and keep the site secure, Cloudflare processes the details every web request carries, including your IP address and the approximate location it implies, your browser and operating system, the page requested, the referring page, and the date and time. Cloudflare keeps request logs for the site for troubleshooting and security, under its own retention rules. We don't combine them with any other information about you.
We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It sets cookies and records information such as your approximate location, device type and the pages you view. Google's use of that information is covered by its own privacy policy.
We also run our own website analytics, hosted on Convex. It records the pages you view, the site that referred you, campaign tags in the link, clicks on links to other sites, and your screen size, browser language and time zone. It helps us see which pages and program links readers use. It doesn't record your name or email address.
Information Stored on Your Device
When you switch between light and dark mode, the site saves that choice in your browser's local storage under the name "theme," so the next page opens in the same mode. It never leaves your device, and you can clear it from your browser settings at any time.
Our website analytics stores a random visitor ID in local storage and a random session ID in session storage, so visits and clicks can be counted together. Neither contains your name or anything you typed. Clearing your browser data removes them.
Google Analytics stores its own cookies to tell one visit from the next. You can block or clear them in your browser settings.
Information You Provide
If you email us at hello@savomediagroup.com, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. The site has no forms, accounts, quizzes or sign-ups. We use what you send to reply, including to corrections you send about a program or a figure, and to comply with legal obligations.
Outside Services
Every page is served from the site's own domain. Fonts and images are served from our own domain, so no font or image service sees your visit. These services handle information: Cloudflare, for hosting, delivery and security, which receives the request details listed above; Google Analytics, which receives the visit details listed above; Convex, which hosts our own website analytics; and our email provider, which receives mail sent to hello@savomediagroup.com. If we add any other service, we will update this page first and list it here.
We share information only with those services, so they can do their part, and when required by law, regulation, legal process or a governmental request. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
Links to Other Sites
Rankings and program cards link to schools' own websites, and our sources link to government and other sites such as the Bureau of Labor Statistics, NCES, O*NET, the College Scorecard and regional tuition exchanges. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which this policy doesn't cover.
How Long We Keep Information
We keep email only as long as we need it to answer you and to keep a record of corrections, unless the law requires longer. Cloudflare's request logs are kept under Cloudflare's retention rules.
Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, which we don't do. To make any of these requests, email hello@savomediagroup.com with "Privacy request" in the subject line.
Children
The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.
